Lauren MarshallReading Specialist Peer Projects ~ Therapy from the Heart
I am a graduate of Salem State University where I earned an elementary education and psychology degree. I have earned my Masters as a reading specialist through Gordon College where I was trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to teaching reading. I have also been trained in Visualizing and Verbalizing, a Lindamood-Bell program and also have experience with the Lively Letters curriculum.
I started my career with children years ago as a Preschool Lead Teacher while working toward my undergraduate degree. After graduating, I worked as a third grade teacher and also a first grade teacher and truly loved teaching both grades. During this time, I also worked part-time at an amazing speech and OT clinic called Peer Projects ~ Therapy from the Heart (PPTFTH) as a social group leader and reading tutor. I learned so much from colleagues and the children I worked with at the clinic and gained a lot of experience working with children on the autism spectrum.
After graduating from Gordon College with my Masters as a reading specialist, I began teaching reading full-time at the clinic. Many of my clients have been with me for years now. I feel fortunate to be able to work with them in a 1:1 supportive environment, where I can tailor each lesson to their individual needs. I truly enjoy seeing them grow and feel successful in their educational experience.
